Path To Success – New and Reapplying GTCC Students

1 Complete your NC Residency Determination.

  • Please visit to complete the residency application process. When you finish the residency determination form, be sure to write down your assigned Residency Certification Number (RCN). You will need to enter your RCN on the GTCC admission application in step 2.

2 Complete GTCC's application for admission.

  • After obtaining your RCN in step 1, please complete the .
  • After you submit your application, monitor your status by visiting GTCC's .
  • Need help choosing a career path or program? Complete the and/or meet with our Career Services team.

3 Apply for Financial Aid.

4 Submit official transcripts.

5 Satisfy placement test requirements.

6 Activate student account.

7 Complete Orientation.

  • Once you have activated your Student Account (Titan Account) in Step 6, . This is a short welcome and introduction to GTCC.

8 Sign up for First Advising.

You will learn how to register for classes, get information about resources that are available at GTCC, and work with a Student Success Coach to develop your college plan.

For advising, you can either walk in and wait or use QLess to hold your place in line. Appointments are usually 30-45 minutes.

Choose one of these options:

  1. Sign up for Group Virtual First Advising at .
  2. Walk in on a first-come, first-served basis at one of these campuses:
    • Jamestown Campus
      Medlin Campus Center, Room 3100
      601 E. Main St., Jamestown

    • Greensboro Campus: 
      CEC, Room 132
      3505 E. Wendover Ave., Greensboro

    • High Point Campus: 
      H1, Room 122
      901 S. Main St., High Point

      8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday
      Note: Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes before closing.

9 Register for classes.

10 Pay for classes.

Show prerequisites.

  • Visiting Students must show proof of prerequisites to register for a class. Examples may include:
    • Unofficial or official college transcripts showing a grade of C or better in prerequisite courses
    • SAT or ACT scores that meet the prerequisite
    • High school transcript with appropriate unweighted GPA
    • Complete placement test
  • Please email admissions@gtcc.edu to determine what type of proof you will need for specific courses.
  • Students will be required to present proof of prerequisite to a member of the Student Success Center at the time of registration.
