Counseling Center Services

Welcome to the GTCC Counseling Center! We understand how challenging school, work, or home life can be for students. The Counseling Center staff is available to help you.

The Counseling Center provides free, confidential counseling services to all current and prospective students. All counselors are master's level and/or licensed staff who work with students individually and in groups to facilitate healthy emotional, psychological, and academic development.

The Counseling Center provides face-to-face and telehealth services. Face-to-face services are the delivery of healthcare services in person in our counseling center. Telehealth services are the remote delivery of healthcare services via technology-assisted media. This technology includes but is not limited to:

  • telephone
  • video
  • smartphones
  • tablets
  • PC desktop systems or other electronic means

Titan Assistance Program

The Titan Assistance Program (TAP) may offer the support and resources you need to address personal or school-related challenges and concerns. It’s confidential and free.

Access Your TAP & Work-Life Services

There are two ways to access your TAP and work-life services:

  • Phone Helpline: 866-329-4148
  • Online: Go to .
    • Click Sign Up for Account.
    • Enter the student code: gtccsap.
    • Enter your GTCC email and create a password.

The Main Counseling Center is in Medlin Campus Center, Room 3800, on the Jamestown Campus. It is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. 

Counseling Services are also offered on the Greensboro Campus in the CEC Building, Room 128.

What if I am in a crisis?

If you are in crisis, you have options. You can:

  • Call 911 for immediate assistance.
  • Get free and confidential counseling 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through the member portal at .

Counselors are trained in specific areas (i.e. disabilities, women’s issues, domestic violence, and many others), so you may desire to request a counselor according to specialty.

Email askthecounselor@gtcc.edu, and a counselor will respond. He/she can set up a phone or online meeting if needed.

Confidential/private sessions can be provided by a certified counselor on a walk in or appointment basis.

Counselors offer workshops each semester to address these topics and others. Individual academic counseling sessions can also be made by scheduling an appointment or by walk-in.
